How to choose the right step ladder size:

To use this guide, choose the type of ladder and max height you need to reach. To help, we’ve also included some common heights of places you might find yourself working at. Step ladders allow for free-standing use for a variety of jobs. Extension ladders can be height adjusted as needed and allow for easier storage.

It’s worth noting too, step ladders are shorter than the max reach height while extension ladders are taller; that's because a step ladder is designed to be stood on at the very top whereas an extension ladder should extend well beyond the rung you’re standing on.
